In the area of values, philosophy, and history my competency is foundational. My coursework as a graduate student has helped me develop this level of competency. Specifically,  American Higher Education has given me the knowledge of the history of higher education and has allowed me to connect how history impacts and shapes the future. Student Personnel Administration has equipped me with the knowledge of the history of the profession of student affairs, its values and purpose, and how it has changed. Additionally, these courses and various others have begun to highlight the differences and history of different institutional types and functional areas.
